Directions to the William G. Hempel Seafarer Center

The center is located inside a secure perimeter at the Port of Albany and is primarily open for seafarers who visit the port aboard their ships. Directions are provided only for pre-authorized individuals and others who are attending special events.

From I-90 East or West:

1. Take Exit 6A, merge onto I-787 South toward Albany/Rensselaer.
2. Exit 3B Madison Avenue toward US-20W/Port of Albany. Go 0.2 miles (mi).
3. Turn Left onto Broadway. Go 0.2 mi.
4. Turn Right staying on Broadway. Go 0.5 mi.
5. Keep Left to stay on Broadway another 187 feet (ft).
6. Turn Left onto Church Street, which turns into Boat Street in 0.6 mi.
7. Turn Right onto Smith Blvd. and go 492 ft.
   The center is at the left side of the building on your right:

From New York State Thruway (I-87):

1. Take Exit 23 for I-787/US-9W toward Albany/Rensselaer.
2. Keep Left at fork and follow signs to I-787N/Downtown Albany/Rensselaer/Troy.
3. Merge onto I-787.
4. Take Exit 2 toward Port of Albany.
5. Turn Right onto Church Street, which turns into Boat Street in 0.7 mi.
6. Turn Right onto Smith Blvd. and go 492 ft.
   The center is at the left side of the building on your right.
